Tonga Communications Corporation (TCC) launched its 5G network today at its headquarters in Nuku’alofa, with Prime Minister Hon. Hu’akavameiliku as the special guest.
TCC CEO Sione Veikoso emphasized the importance of the launch, saying, “This occasion reflects the culmination of TCC’s dedication to maintaining its leadership in the landscape of Tonga from the moment we pioneered mobile and internet services.”
Veikoso added, “With the launch of 5G, we reaffirm our position as the leader in Tonga’s mobile rates, bringing the fastest, most reliable and cutting-edge technology to our people.”
TCC’s Manager for Technical Services, ‘Iki Tu’itavake, highlighted the improved network speeds, saying, “We expect a network service that will be much better and faster.”

He also noted that 5G would enable “man to machine” communication, enhancing smart device connectivity at home.
In his keynote, Hon. Hu’akavameiliku said, “5G means a more connected, inclusive and prosperous Tonga.”
