The 7th PINA Media Summit officially closed last night in Niue at Talo’s Restaurant in Alofi, marking a successful week of discussions and collaboration amongst the 90 media representatives from the region that gathered on the island Rock of the Polynesia.
Niue’s Prime Minister, Hon. Dalton Tagelagi, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to foster unity and exchange ideas across the Pacific. Hon. Tagelagi shared his hopes that participants would leave with valuable insights from the event. “This Summit has been an excellent platform for learning and strengthening our regional bonds,” he said.
The newly elected PINA President Kalafi Moala echoed these sentiments from the Prime Minister of Niue. He extended appreciation to the people of Niue for their warm hospitality, which contributed to the event’s success.
The Australian and New Zealand High Commissioners congratulated the government of Niue and PINA for the positive outcome for the event and also pledged their respective government’s support for the development of media and journalists in the region.
The Niue Seventh Day Adventist church youth entertained the gathering with several items followed by country delegation performances.
The next PINA Media Summit is scheduled to take place in Savusavu, Fiji, in 2026, as the organization continues its mission of promoting media development and cooperation throughout the Pacific.
