New Zealand universities will now accept students who have completed the Tongan National Form Seven Certificate (TNFSC) programme, according to an announcement by Tonga’s Prime Minister’s Office yesterday.
The TNFSC is a high school qualification that is equivalent to the New Zealand National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) Level 2. This means that students who have completed the TNFSC will be eligible to apply for undergraduate programs at any New Zealand university.
The decision to accept the TNFSC is a significant step forward for Tongan students who aspire to study at a New Zealand university. In the past, Tongan students have had to complete an additional year of study in New Zealand before they could be admitted to university. This new policy will make it easier and more affordable for Tongan students to pursue their dreams of higher education.
The Prime Minister’s Office said that the decision to accept the TNFSC was made “in recognition of the high quality of education that is provided in Tonga’s schools.” The office also said that the decision was “a reflection of the strong ties that exist between Tonga and New Zealand.”
The acceptance of the TNFSC is a welcome development for Tongan students and for the people of Tonga as a whole. It is a sign of the growing educational opportunities that are available to Tongan students and it is a testament to the strong relationship between Tonga and New Zealand.
In addition to the TNFSC, New Zealand universities also accept a number of other overseas qualifications for admission. These include the Australian Year 12 Certificate, the International Baccalaureate Diploma, and the American High School Diploma.
Students who are interested in applying to a New Zealand university should contact the university directly to find out more about the admission requirements.
