Australia’s Pacific Support Vessel, ADV Reliant, has departed Brisbane for its first 2025 deployment, carrying critical aid and equipment to Pacific nations, including Tonga.
The three-month mission will see the vessel deliver relief stores and infrastructure support to Tonga, alongside firetrucks to Kiribati and disaster relief supplies to the Solomon Islands. The operation coincides with the region’s high-risk weather season.
Acting Chief of Joint Operations Major General Paul Kenny highlighted ADV Reliant’s contributions since its 2022 launch. “Over the past two years, ADV Reliant has proven to be a highly capable and responsive vessel,” he said.

He emphasized its versatility in maritime operations, noting, “It has the ability to respond to any situation within the maritime domain, including significant incidents, rendering assistance to personnel in need and responding to medical emergencies.”
ADV Reliant operates 300 days annually, supporting search and rescue, maritime surveillance, and humanitarian missions across the Pacific.
