Tonga Police have arrested a 25-year-old man in Afa, Tongatapu, on suspicion of distributing illicit drugs.
Acting on reliable intelligence, the Drugs Squad apprehended the suspect and seized 42 packs of cannabis weighing 42.66 grams, along with TOP$490 in cash.
The suspect has been charged with possession of illicit drugs and remains in police custody as investigations continue.
This arrest is part of a broader crackdown on drug-related activities across Tongatapu. In a separate operation, five individuals were arrested in Ngele’ia, Fangaloto, Patangata, and Popua.
The Drugs Squad seized 28 packs of alleged methamphetamine weighing 2.01 grams, 165 packs of cannabis totaling 125.51 grams, drug utensils, TOP$1,586 in cash, two mobile phones, and a vehicle.
Tonga Police continue to urge the public to report any suspicious activities related to illicit drugs. They emphasize their commitment to disrupting drug-related crimes and safeguarding the community.
