Tonga’s Ambassador to the UAE, Hon. ‘Akau’ola, presented his credentials in Qatar on 4 May 2025.
The ceremony at Doha’s Amiri Diwan saw Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani officially receive Hon. ‘Akau’ola as Tonga’s non-resident ambassador to Qatar.
Hon. ‘Akau’ola joined five other diplomats presenting credentials that day, including envoys from Fiji, Latvia, and Seychelles.
This marks the final step in Hon. ‘Akau’ola’s accreditation across all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states. He previously presented credentials in Saudi Arabia (2021), Kuwait (May 2023), and Bahrain.
The Deputy Emir welcomed the ambassadors, expressing hope for strengthened bilateral relations. The diplomats conveyed greetings from their respective leaders and aspirations for Qatar’s continued prosperity.
Hon. ‘Akau’ola has served as Tonga’s head of mission in the UAE since 2019 . His expanded role reflects Tonga’s commitment to deepening ties with Gulf nations.
