Ana Ika, Deputy CEO for the Ministry of Finance (MOF) Leadership Division, was accepted into the second cohort of the US-Pacific Institute for Rising Leaders Fellowship Program.
This fellowship, a public-private partnership between Johns Hopkins University and the U.S. Department of State, ran from September 30 to October 18, 2024, according to a statement from the MOF.
Inspired by the September 2022 US-Pacific Islands Leaders Summit, the 2024 program gathered 32 mid- to senior-level professionals from public service, NGOs, private sectors, and regional organizations across the Pacific Islands.
Based at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, D.C., the fellows received training in leadership and decision-making, focusing on critical regional issues such as climate resilience, public health, and maritime challenges.
Participants engaged with senior U.S. officials, corporate leaders, and experts, fostering networks that provided exceptional learning opportunities both inside and outside the classroom.
These experiences are designed to equip emerging leaders like Ika to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges.
The program runs annually, aiming to strengthen the leadership capacity across the Pacific Islands region.
