Hans Arne Jensen wins gold in Men’s Recurve Matchplay, securing Tonga’s second gold medal at the 2025 Palau Mini Games.
Tonga’s archery team delivered a standout performance in Palau, earning 11 medals across recurve and compound events, according to a statement from the Tonga Sports Association and National Olympic Committee (TASANOC).

Jensen’s gold in the Men’s Individual Matchplay adds to his earlier victory in the Double 720 Ranking round. He also earned a silver in Mixed Recurve Matchplay with teammate Halamehi Tangulu.
TASANOC celebrated the achievement stating: “A remarkable performance from our archery team in Palau — proudly bringing home 11 medals for the Kingdom.”
In the compound division, Luisa Pongi won two silvers, while Anna Fifita and Victory Pekipaki claimed a pair of bronzes and silvers respectively. Esela Mounga added two more bronze medals to the tally.

Tonga now ranks 13th on the overall medal table. The Cook Islands continue to lead with 64 medals, including 39 golds. Samoa and Australia are tied in gold count at 12, though Samoa has more total medals (27 to Australia’s 18).
Competition in Palau continues through the week, with more events set to determine final medal standings.
