The 50th anniversary of the ASB Polyfest kicks off tomorrow at Manukau Sports Bowl, celebrating Pacific cultures with a vibrant showcase of song, dance, and speech from local youth.
Over four days, 11,000 students will perform across six cultural stages, including Tongan, Samoan, and Maori.
ASB Polyfest Director Seiuli Terri Leo-Mauu expressed her excitement for the event, noting the festival’s significance in uniting families and fostering pride.
“It’s a massive milestone, showing the impact Polyfest has had on generations of families,” she said, highlighting the role the festival has played in supporting students’ futures.
This year, the record number of entries highlights the event’s return to pre-COVID levels.
The festival theme, “Legacy – a treasure handed down,” encourages youth to reflect on past struggles and look toward a brighter future.
The event’s full schedule runs from April 2-5, with an expected turnout of thousands.
