The Ministry of Health says backup data is helping restore IT systems after a cyber attack two weeks ago.
The Ministry confirmed this week that it is using available backup data to support ongoing recovery efforts following a cyberattack that disrupted its core IT systems earlier this month.
In a media release issued on 26 June, officials stated that “health record information is available, and all health services remain fully operational.”
The ransomware attack, first reported on 18 June, is still under investigation. No further details have been released about the origin or nature of the cyberattack.
“Our ongoing investigation into the incident has confirmed a cyber intrusion of the Ministry’s IT systems,” the statement read. “We are working around the clock with our Incident Response (IR) team and our partners to accelerate these recovery efforts.”
The Ministry advised the public to continue accessing medical services as usual, and to bring clinic cards to assist staff while systems are restored.
No user action is required at this stage, and the Ministry warned citizens not to share passwords or sensitive information.
