The biggest school athletics competitions in Tonga are set to take place, drawing hundreds of young athletes to Teufaiva Stadium.
The final of the Tongatapu Districts Primary School Athletic Sports will be held on Wednesday, March 26, and Thursday, March 27, 2025.
Following that, the highly anticipated Inter-Collegiate Athletic Sport 2025 will run from Monday, April 7, to Friday, April 11, also at Teufaiva Stadium.
For Tonga High School, this year’s competition holds extra significance. The school’s head sports coach, Taniela Leota, said they are using the Tonga High School sports ground for training for the first time.
“Tonga High School had no sports and training area, but now we do, which we’re thankful for,” Mr. Leota said.
The school will field 40 athletes in this year’s Inter-Collegiate competition, with hopes of making a strong impact.
The two events will see young athletes from across Tongatapu competing for top honours, with spectators expected to pack Teufaiva Stadium to cheer them on.
Both competitions serve as a platform to develop future Tongan sporting talent, with past participants going on to represent the nation in regional and international athletics.
