George Foreman, two-time heavyweight boxing champion and Olympic gold medalist, has died at 76. He passed away peacefully on March 21, 2025, surrounded by family.
Born in Marshall, Texas, Foreman began his boxing career with a gold medal at the 1968 Olympics. He won the heavyweight title in 1973 by defeating Joe Frazier and reclaimed it in 1994 at age 45, becoming the oldest to do so.
After a brief retirement in 1977, Foreman became a minister and founded the George Foreman Youth and Community Center. He later endorsed the George Foreman Grill, selling over 100 million units.
The sports world mourns his loss, with Mike Tyson stating, “My heart breaks.” Foreman is survived by his wife, Mary Joan Martelly, and 12 children.
