For many women in Tonga, running a small business is a way to support their families, but managing finances and growth can be a challenge.
Now, after completing the Women in Business Entrepreneurship Training program, 11 women say they feel better equipped to succeed.
The program, led by the Ministry of Trade and Economic Development (MTED), focused on financial literacy, business leadership, and marketing.
“This program includes mentorship networks connecting aspiring businesswomen to develop skills in leadership, marketing, and most importantly, an effective and efficient way to manage finances,” MTED stated.
It also connected participants with mentors to guide them beyond the training.
A total of 21 women have now completed the training across two phases.
MTED has confirmed that more programs will be offered, giving Tongan women further opportunities to strengthen their businesses and economic independence.
