Tonga Police’s Drugs Squad intensified its crackdown on illicit drugs, conducting successful raids in Fatai and Fua’amotu over the past week.
On Friday, February 28, acting on reliable intelligence, officers targeted a residence in Fatai. The operation led to the arrest of a 56-year-old male. Authorities seized 252 packs of cannabis, weighing 130.35 grams, and a mobile phone. The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
That same day, another raid was executed in Fua’amotu, following reports of illegal drug activities in the area. A 23-year-old female was apprehended while allegedly selling drugs to a 34-year-old female. Both individuals were arrested and are currently detained. The operation resulted in the confiscation of 87 packs of cannabis, totaling 515 grams, along with drug paraphernalia and a mobile device.
Authorities continue to urge the public to report any suspicious activities related to drug offenses to their nearest police station.
Investigations into both cases are ongoing.
