The Minister for Trade & Economic Development, Dr. Viliami Latu, joined a high-level Commonwealth roundtable discussion in Samoa this week focusing on how governments and private enterprises can collaborate to scale sustainable projects, especially in climate-vulnerable regions.
The roundtable, chaired by His Lordship Swire, included Prime Minister Gaston Browne of Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas Prime Minister Philip Davis, and Samoa’s Finance Minister.
Dr. Latu stressed the importance of strong partnerships to address pressing issues like climate change, economic development, and social equity.
“We must strengthen collaboration among leaders and stakeholders to tackle individual and collective challenges,” he said.
Private sector representatives shared insights into overcoming challenges through technology and innovation, underscoring the crucial role of business in driving sustainability.
Mrs. Distaquaine Tu’ihalamaka, CEO of the Ministry, echoed the need for collaboration, calling it essential for finding sustainable solutions.
“Working together is no longer optional. It is imperative for us to pool our expertise and resources if we are to find sustainable solutions to the challenges we all face,” she said.
