Crown Prince Tupouto‘a ‘Ulukalala will officially open the National Development Summit tomorrow Tuesday March 18 in Nuku‘alofa.
The event, hosted at the Fa‘onelua Convention Centre, brings together key leaders to discuss Tonga’s future.
Themed “A Resilient Tonga through Transformative Action: Safeguarding our Heritage,” the summit will focus on economic growth, climate resilience, and governance.
Prime Minister Hon. Dr. ‘Aisake Eke will deliver the welcome address, followed by expert panels on national development. “We must reflect on past progress and shape a roadmap for the decade ahead,” Dr. Eke said.
Day one will spotlight economic reforms, trade, and infrastructure. Discussions will cover export markets, tourism expansion, and private sector growth. Officials will also address climate action and disaster risk management.
The event continues with sessions on education, healthcare, governance, and security over the next 3 days. A major focus is expected to be on combatting illicit drugs and improving public services.
The summit concludes March 21 with discussions on international partnerships and investment opportunities for Tonga’s future.
