Fiji Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has dismissed Attorney-General Graham Everett Leung from Cabinet, effective immediately, citing findings from a recent Commission of Inquiry into the appointment of Barbara Malimali as Commissioner of the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC).
“Today, I have decided to exercise the power conferred upon me by Section 92(3)(b) of the Constitution, to dismiss Graham Everett Leung as a Minister holding the office of Attorney-General, with immediate effect,” Rabuka said in a statement.
Leung was appointed to the role on 05 June 2024.
“The findings in the recent Report of the Commission of Inquiry (COI) into the appointment of the FICAC Commissioner, has made it evident to me that Leung’s position in my Cabinet is now untenable,” Rabuka said.
“This is not a decision I have taken lightly, but one that is necessary in the best interest of the people that we serve,” said PM Rabuka.
