A high-level business networking event begins today in Tonga, aiming to boost regional trade and investment.
The Business-to-Business (B2B) Networking Event, part of the Tonga Business Mission 2025, is taking place at the Tanoa International Dateline Hotel in Nuku’alofa. It brings together government leaders and private-sector representatives from both nations to explore economic opportunities.
Today, Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Hon. Manoa Kamikamica, will deliver the opening address, leading a 24-member delegation of government officials and private-sector organisations. Tonga Chamber of Commerce President will offer the welcome remarks, followed by a presentation from Investment Fiji CEO Kamal Chetty and other Fijian businesses.
“This mission represents a pivotal opportunity for Fiji to strengthen its economic engagement with our Pacific neighbours,” Mr Chetty said. “We aim to facilitate qualified trade and investment leads across tourism, infrastructure, services and FMCGs.”
Fiji exported $161.8 million worth of goods to Tonga in 2024, with top exports including flour, biscuits, paints, and eggs. Investment Fiji has identified high growth potential in building materials, seafood, canned food, and sugar.
The mission runs from 5–8 May and features major Fijian companies such as Punjas, Goodman Fielder, and Vinod Patel.
