Fuel prices for February show minor adjustments in Tongatapu but significant increases in the outer islands, where costs exceed $4 per litre.
The Tonga Competent Authority (TCA) has set new retail prices, effective Monday, February 3. In Tongatapu, petrol remains at $3.25 per litre, while diesel has risen to $3.25. Kerosene remains at $2.45.
Outer islands face the highest costs. In Niuafoʻou and Niuatoputapu, both petrol and diesel now cost $4.10 per litre. Haʻapai sees petrol at $3.60, while Vavaʻu stands at $3.30.
The TCA, which regulates fuel pricing, considers global oil prices, freight costs, and exchange rates in its calculations. Fuel prices are reviewed monthly to reflect market changes.
The new prices follow January’s adjustments, where diesel increased in Tongatapu from $3.20 to $3.25 per litre.
Officials say the latest changes align with global market trends.
