The Free Wesleyan Church of Tonga (FWC) inaugurated a new primary school building, Akoteu Petani, in Kolovai last week.
The $380,000 project was delivered two months ahead of its scheduled January 2025 completion date.

The Ministry of Infrastructure (MOI) oversaw the construction as part of the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai rebuilding initiative.
The official opening was attended by Queen Nanasipau’u, Prime Minister Hu’akavameiliku, and the Minister for Infrastructure.
Rev. Dr. Tevita Havea, President of the FWC, blessed the building during the ceremony.

The project represents a significant milestone in recovery efforts following the 2022 volcanic eruption.
The new classrooms will provide students with a modern and safe learning environment.
Akoteu Petani is set to open for classes in the new year.
