The death toll in Gaza has exceeded 50,900 as Israeli airstrikes continue.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, 26 Palestinians were killed in the past 24 hours, including six bodies recovered from rubble, and 106 were injured. Since March 18, when Israel resumed its military offensive, 1,542 Palestinians have died and 3,940 have been wounded. The total number of casualties since October 7, 2023, now stands at 50,912 dead and 115,981 injured.
The renewed offensive ended a two-month ceasefire that began on January 19. During the ceasefire, Israel was accused of violating the agreement by continuing airstrikes and restricting humanitarian aid. The United Nations Human Rights Office has warned that Israel’s actions in Gaza threaten the existence of Palestinians as a group.
On March 23, Israeli forces attacked humanitarian vehicles in Rafah, killing 15 aid workers, including members of the Palestine Red Crescent Society and a UN employee. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies condemned the attack as the deadliest for its workers in nearly a decade.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate, with shortages of food, medicine, and fuel. The United Nations and aid organizations have called for immediate access to deliver essential supplies to the affected population.
