A senior Palestinian diplomat has raised alarm over Israel’s ongoing military siege in northern Gaza, where hundreds of Palestinians have been killed. Ambassador Majed Bamya, the deputy permanent observer to the UN, called the situation a “genocide within the genocide,” as intense bombardment continues in the Jabalia refugee camp area.
Since Israeli operations began earlier this month, at least 200 people have died, according to Palestinian authorities. On Sunday, 17 more people were killed, including eight from one family in Nuseirat camp.
Around 400,000 civilians are trapped in northern Gaza, unable to flee despite evacuation orders. Israeli forces claim their strikes are targeting Hamas fighters and weapons, but civilians remain in dire conditions, struggling to find food and shelter. Many Palestinians are posting desperate messages on social media, refusing to leave their homes amidst the chaos.
The situation has drawn international attention, with growing concerns about a humanitarian crisis.
