Tens of thousands around the world have protested against Elon Musk’s political actions.
The protests were organized under the “Tesla Takedown” campaign, aiming to impact Tesla’s sales and stock value.
Demonstrators gathered at over 500 Tesla locations across the United States, Canada, and Europe. Major cities like London, Washington D.C., New York City, and Los Angeles saw significant turnouts.
The movement opposes Musk’s role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency under President Donald Trump. Critics argue that his policies, including eliminating humanitarian aid and closing federal agencies, are detrimental to democracy.
Some protests escalated into vandalism. In Austin, Texas, incendiary devices were found at a Tesla dealership. The devices were secured without incident, and investigations are ongoing.
Counter-protesters, including supporters of Trump and Musk, appeared at several locations, leading to tense but largely non-violent encounters. In Paramus, New Jersey, and Long Beach, California, verbal confrontations and minor altercations occurred.
Despite declining Tesla sales and a decrease in stock value, Musk remains optimistic about the company’s future. The “Tesla Takedown” campaign continues to call for actions such as selling Tesla vehicles and stock, urging supporters to “join the picket lines.”
