The Minister for Infrastructure (MOI), Dr. Taniela Fusimalohi, presented a cheque for $380,000 to the President of the Church of Tonga, Rev. Tu’ipulotu Katoanga, at Matatoa on Friday.
This funding is to support the construction of a new meeting hall at the college grounds. The 70 metre by 31 metre hall is estimated to cost $8 million pa’anga.
Fusimalohi said in his keynote speech that the government cannot complete its national objectives without the involvement and assistance of the churches in Tonga.
Rev. Katoanga highlighted the dual purpose of the upcoming facility, saying, “The hall will also be used as an evacuation centre during emergencies.”

The addition of the new hall is expected to enhance the college’s infrastructure, providing a versatile space for events and emergency situations alike.
Anastasis College, established in May 2024, was officially opened by King Tupou VI.
