Tonga Geological Services has issued a hazard alert for the Home Reef Volcano, advising mariners to maintain a 2-nautical-mile distance from the site.
The volcano, located 25 km southwest of Late Island, continues to exhibit moderate-to-low volcanic radiative power (VRP), according to MIROVA scale observations.

The island is expanding along its northeastern side, with gray, ash-rich clouds visible in recent imagery.
“Thermal anomalies are still observed, but there are no indicators for major explosive eruptions at this time,” the Volcano Watch Team reported.

A green terrestrial alert remains in place for Vava’u and Ha’apai residents, while a yellow aviation code has been issued for the aviation community.
Although the risk to nearby communities is deemed low, authorities urge mariners to follow the hazard map and maintain a safe distance.

Monitoring continues daily to assess the situation.
This is the third public notice on the Home Reef Volcano.
