Tonga has claimed its first-ever Table Tennis medal and a Heptathlon bronze at the 2025 Pacific Mini Games in Palau.
Luani Moeakiola made history by securing a silver medal in the Para Table Tennis division, Tonga’s first medal in the sport at any Pacific Games.

“Historic silver for Tonga. Congratulations to Luani Moeakiola,” Tonga Sports Association and National Olympic Committee (TASANOC) said in a statement.
Also celebrating success was Manatu Hafoka, who earned bronze in the women’s heptathlon with a total of 3,228 points.
“Congratulations to Manatu Hafoka for claiming bronze in the Heptathlon… A true display of strength and endurance,” TASANOC said.
The Palau-hosted Mini Games have brought together athletes from across the Pacific, with Tonga’s performances drawing praise for their dedication and heart.

Both medals represent a boost for Tonga’s athletics and para-sports programs, signalling strong potential ahead of the full Pacific Games in Tahiti in 2027.
Further competition continues this week, with Tongan athletes still vying for medals across athletics, boxing and weightlifting events.
The Games runs from 29 June to 9 July.
