Iran, Russia, and Turkey have strongly condemned Israeli actions in Gaza, calling for urgent international intervention to secure a permanent ceasefire.
The condemnation came after the 22nd international meeting on Syria in Kazakhstan, where the three countries expressed deep concern over the mass killings in Gaza and Israeli military aggression in Lebanon and the West Bank. They called on the UN Security Council to demand an immediate ceasefire and unhindered humanitarian access to Gaza.
In their statement, the three nations also condemned Israeli military attacks on Syria, labelling them as violations of international law. “These actions destabilize the region and exacerbate tensions,” they said, urging Israel to cease its military strikes.
The escalating violence, they noted, is also impacting Syria, where many refugees have fled from Lebanon due to heightened hostilities. The joint statement called for a swift humanitarian response from the UN and agencies.
The three countries also emphasized the need to resume efforts to normalize relations between Turkey and Syria, highlighting the importance of combating terrorism and facilitating the safe return of Syrian refugees.
The next round of the Astana talks is set for the first half of 2025.
