Jeffrey Goldberg, editor of The Atlantic, has become the latest target of Donald Trump and his allies after revealing a shocking security lapse within the administration.
Goldberg was mistakenly added to a Signal group chat where top officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, openly discussed classified military plans. After publishing his exposé, the veteran journalist was met with a firestorm of attacks.
Trump labeled Goldberg a “loser” and a “sleazebag,” while National Security Advisor Michael Waltz—who made the critical error—called him “scum” and a liar. Waltz has since denied knowing Goldberg, a claim the journalist rejects.
“They invite me into this Signal chat, and now they’re attacking me. I don’t even get it,” Goldberg told the BBC.
Despite White House attempts to downplay the breach, The Atlantic published the full messages, exposing sensitive details about an impending strike in Yemen.
Trump remains defiant, backing his officials and dismissing the controversy as a media “witch hunt.” But as calls for an investigation grow, Goldberg remains unmoved. “This is their move,” he said. “You never defend—just attack.”
