The King’s Commonwealth Fellowship Programme (KCFP) was launched in Samoa yesterday during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, with His Majesty King Charles III in attendance.
The programme, a collaborative effort with the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), aims to create lasting impact in the Caribbean and Pacific regions by building capacity in education, health, and disaster resilience.
Regional hubs at the University of the South Pacific (USP) and the University of the West Indies will lead the initiative, providing local governments and civil service teams with tools for sustainable development.
The launch ceremony, co-hosted by USP’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Pal Ahluwalia, welcomed around 50 students and staff.
“This is an exciting and remarkable initiative,” said Ahluwalia. “The programme has the potential to cultivate a highly skilled workforce for sustainable development in Small Island Developing States.”
KCFP will operate under the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan.
