Leicester Tigers centre Solomone Kata has been handed a four-week suspension following his red card during the club’s 17-14 victory against Exeter. The 29-year-old Tongan was dismissed for a head-to-head collision with Jack Yeandle, nine minutes from full-time.
Kata was already unavailable for Leicester’s match against Bath due to head injury assessment (HIA) protocols, but the suspension will see him miss additional October fixtures against Newcastle, Northampton Saints, Saracens, and Gloucester. He will only be eligible to return for Leicester’s Premiership game against Sale in December.
Kata, who joined Leicester in May 2023 after leaving Exeter, has scored four tries for the Tigers. However, this is not his first disciplinary issue; last season, he served a three-match ban for a dangerous tackle on Northampton’s Fraser Dingwall.
