Mele Mangisi, Executive Director of Tonga’s Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC), furthering Tonga’s commitment to combating corruption.
The MOU, formalized in Suva on Wednesday, lays the foundation for regional cooperation between the two agencies. Key areas of collaboration include sharing expertise, intelligence exchange, and joint training initiatives designed to strengthen anti-corruption efforts.
“This partnership is essential for us as we work to build a strong anti-corruption framework in Tonga,” said Mangisi who attended on behalf of Commissioner LaHatte.
Tonga’s partnership with FICAC is a major move toward regional collaboration, aiming to build a more transparent and accountable public sector across the Pacific.
This agreement with FICAC is a step towards strengthening the ACC’s capacity and promoting good governance in Tonga.
“Through this agreement, we will gain valuable insights and technical support to enhance our investigative processes and systems,” Mangisi added.
The ACC, launched last July, continues to implement effective measures to address corruption within the country.
