Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Elon Musk have discussed expanding collaboration in technology and innovation.
In a post on X, Modi stated, “We discussed the immense potential for collaboration in the areas of technology and innovation.” He added that India remains “committed to advancing our partnerships with the US” in these domains.
The conversation comes as Musk’s companies, Tesla and Starlink, prepare to enter the Indian market. Tesla has begun hiring for 13 positions in Delhi and Mumbai, including roles in sales and customer support, and has secured showroom spaces in both cities.
Starlink, Musk’s satellite internet venture, has signed agreements with two major Indian telecom firms and is awaiting government approval to launch services.
Meanwhile, US Vice President JD Vance is scheduled to meet Modi on April 21 to discuss economic, trade, and geopolitical ties. The visit occurs amid ongoing trade tensions, with the US recently imposing a 27% tariff on certain Indian goods, followed by a 90-day pause to facilitate negotiations.
These developments highlight India’s strategic efforts to strengthen technological partnerships and navigate complex global trade dynamics.
