Hon. Vātau Hui, MP for Niua 17, has embarked on a comprehensive constituency visit to Niuatoputapu, engaging with community members and officials to address pressing issues.
The visit, which began on March 6, was initially postponed from September 2023 due to prior commitments. Hon. Hui, accompanied by his team, departed for Niuatoputapu aboard the MV Kelesi.

This visit marks a significant effort by Hon. Hui to reconnect with his constituents, especially after last year’s parliamentary visit was canceled due to official duties and other commitments. The annual parliamentary visit is an opportunity for MPs to meet with their electorates, listen to their concerns, and address issues impacting their daily lives.
During his stay, Hon. Hui met with officials from key government departments, including MEIDECC, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lands and Survey, Customs, and Fisheries. He also engaged with staff from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Police Department to discuss pressing issues affecting his electorate.
The MP visited the Ministry of Health and Likamonu Hospital, engaging with health officials to better understand the needs and challenges faced by the local healthcare system.
Hon. Hui also joined the parliamentary education team in delivering outreach programs at Niuatoputapu High School, Falehau Government Primary School, Hihifo Government Primary School, and local preschools. These programs aim to connect with students, educators, and families, addressing educational needs and community concerns.

A full report of the constituency visit will be prepared and submitted for discussion in Parliament, ensuring that the voices of Niua 17 constituents are heard at the national level.
The visit is scheduled to end on March 22, with Hon. Hui and his team returning to Nuku’alofa.
