His Majesty King Tupou VI received Letters of Credence from His Excellency Mr. Philip Malone, the new British High Commissioner to Tonga, in a ceremony today at the Royal Palace in Nuku’alofa.
During the ceremony, High Commissioner Malone conveyed greetings and best wishes from His Majesty King Charles III and the British Government, emphasizing their desire to deepen the strong partnership between Tonga and the United Kingdom.
“Tonga and the United Kingdom share a longstanding and historic relationship, marked by strong ties between our Royal Families, Armed Forces, and membership in the Commonwealth,” Malone said.
Mr. Malone, a diplomat with 43 years of experience, has previously served as Ambassador to Mongolia and Laos, with postings in Finland, Singapore, and Argentina, among others.
The two nations continue to collaborate in governance, education, and sports.
