For many of the 117 graduates from the Australian Pacific Training Coalition (APTC), completing their courses was more than just earning a certificate—it was a life-changing opportunity.
Graduates were awarded their certificates at the Tanoa Hotel last Thursday to celebrate their achievements in fields such as fashion design, plumbing, carpentry, and light vehicle mechanical technology.
Among them was a group of seven women who broke barriers in traditionally male-dominated industries.
The Australian High Commissioner, HE Brek Batley, praised the graduates’ determination. “Australia is committed to supporting Tonga’s priorities to enhance skills and education for economic growth and social development, in this case through the Australia Pacific Training Coalition.”

Since 2007, APTC has helped over 25,000 Pacific Islanders gain qualifications, with 763 Tongans among them. Many graduates are now using their skills in the private and public sectors, helping drive economic growth.
