A new support network for breast cancer survivors has officially begun in Tonga.
Tonga Breast Cancer Society announced the ‘Survivors Connect’ initiative last week, aiming to link survivors across the country, encouraging shared stories, mutual support and hope. The group will convene monthly to provide a nurturing environment for healing and encouragement.
In a statement, the Society states, βTo all our brave survivors β you are not alone. Together, we are stronger.β
The network also plans to strengthen outreach and pastoral care programmes, building a sustained support framework.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting women in Tonga, with 12 cases recorded between January and July this year alone. The Society continues with its national awareness efforts, including Pinktober initiatives.
Support groups such as Survivors Connect can play a critical role in emotional recovery and advocacy. Across the Pacific, targeted support networks have helped survivors feel less isolated and more empowered to seek care.
