Delegates from across the Pacific have started arriving in Niue for the 7th Pacific Media Summit, set to take place from 21-26 September 2024 at the Scenic Matavai Resort.
Themed “Charting A Resilient Future: Navigating Media Freedom, Artificial Intelligence, and Geo-Political Interest,” the summit gathers media professionals and news outlets from across the Pacific.
Hosted by the Niue Media Association in collaboration with the Government of Niue and the Pacific Islands News Association (PINA), the summit will address key challenges in the Pacific media landscape.
Delegates will engage in discussions on digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI), press freedom, and resilience in the face of geopolitical and technological pressures.

The summit coincides with Niue’s 50th anniversary of self-governance in free association with New Zealand.
Media representatives from Tonga include Kalafi Moala and Siosifa Pomana from Talanoa ‘o Tonga, Kalalina Tohi and Talita Tu’ipulotu from Media Association Tonga.
Key events include the PINA general conference and a panel session on Niue’s 50 years of self-government.
The official opening will be held on Monday 23 September, with Hon. Hima Douglas as the Chief Guest.
