Pacific Islands Forum Secretary General Baron Waqa met with Prime Minister, Dr. ‘Aisake Valu Eke, ahead of this week’s Special Finance Ministers’ Meeting.
Mr. Waqa’s visit to Nuku’alofa comes as Pacific leaders prepare for the event scheduled for March 25-26. Discussions between the two focused on the key agenda items for the two-day gathering, which aims to strengthen regional economic cooperation.
The meeting will bring together finance ministers from across the Pacific to address pressing financial and economic challenges, including climate resilience and sustainable development.
Dr. Eke welcomed Mr. Waqa to his office today, emphasizing Tonga’s commitment to fostering regional partnerships and advancing shared economic and developmental goals.
As the Forum’s Secretary General, Mr. Waqa has been actively engaging with leaders to align regional priorities and enhance economic stability.
