Pacific leaders have been urged to work together to strengthen economic resilience amid global uncertainties.
The Special Forum Economic Ministers Meeting (FEMM) 2025 was officially launched today by HRH Crown Prince Tupouto‘a Ulukalala at the Fa‘onelua Convention Centre in Nuku‘alofa.

The meeting gathers economic leaders from the Pacific Islands Forum to address financial stability and sustainable development in the region.
Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Aisake Eke, chair of the Forum, welcomed delegates, emphasizing the need for unity.
“The economic well-being of our people relies on us working together,” he said. “Our unity is our strength, and our commitment to collective action is vital for a prosperous future.”
Pacific Islands Forum Secretary General Baron Waqa echoed the sentiment, highlighting key economic challenges.

“We are operating in a global economic environment filled with uncertainty,” he said. “Our regional response must be bold, strategic, and resilient.”
Discussions at the meeting focus on economic resilience, sustainable financing, and adapting to external shocks, including climate change and global market fluctuations.
