ABC News Digital has appointed James Maasdorp as the new Digital Training Lead for the Pacific region, including Papua New Guinea.
Maasdorp will spearhead the PACMAS Digital program, starting this year, aimed at enhancing the digital skills of journalists and media professionals in Pacific Island nations.
The program will feature workshops, webinars, and online sessions covering content creation, social media strategy, and data journalism, enabling participants to adapt to the rapidly evolving media landscape.
“We are thrilled to have James on board to lead our PACMAS Digital training program,” said an ABC News Digital spokesperson.

“His extensive experience in the region and his passion for digital media make him the ideal candidate to help us achieve our goal of empowering journalists and media professionals to produce high-quality digital content.”
Maasdorp, who previously worked as a journalist and trainer in the Pacific, expressed enthusiasm for his new role.
“I am excited to be a part of the PACMAS Digital team and to work with journalists and media professionals in the region to help them build their digital skills and produce high-quality digital content,” he said.
