Palau is gearing up to host the 2025 Pacific Mini Games, scheduled from 30 June to 09 July. Frank Kyota, President of the Palau National Olympic Committee (PNOC), outlined the nation’s efforts in an interview, confirming that 24 countries will compete in 12 sports.
Facility upgrades are a key priority. “Upgrading our facilities is something we need to do on an annual basis,” Kyota said. The Pacific Games Council recently toured Palau’s sports venues during its annual assembly to assess readiness.
While progress is ongoing, funding remains a challenge. Kyota highlighted the need for investments in coaches and facilities to enhance athlete training. He also emphasized the importance of developing young athletes, saying, “The Mini Games are a step up from the Micro Games.”
With support from the community and leaders, Palau is committed to hosting a successful event while preparing its athletes for the international stage.
