The Ministry of Tourism in Tonga is planning a centralized night food market in Nuku’alofa, aiming to enhance the city’s cleanliness and tourist appeal.
Viliami Takau, CEO of the Ministry of Tourism, revealed the initiative to Tonga Broadcasting, saying that the Ma’ufanga bus stop would host the market in the evenings.

“This will allow the bus stop to function normally during the daytime, while transforming into a vibrant food market at night,” Takau said.
The plan seeks to bring all food vendors into one location, creating a cleaner, more organized environment for both locals and visitors.

Officials believe the move will not only improve the city’s aesthetics but also provide tourists with a unique dining experience.
Further details on the launch date are yet to be announced.
