Pacific Islands Forum Troika leaders met in Nadi, Fiji, yesterday to advance discussions on regional priorities and reforms.
The meeting brought together Tonga’s Prime Minister and Forum Chair Hon. Dr ‘Aisake Valu Eke, Solomon Islands Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele, Cook Islands Prime Minister Hon. Mark Brown, and Palau President H.E. Surangel Whipps Jr. Fiji’s Prime Minister Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka hosted the leaders for a luncheon.

Key topics included the Review of the Regional Architecture (RRA), the 2024 Troika Plus New Caledonia Mission Report, and the implications of recent U.S. decisions on the region.
The leaders considered a shortlist of eminent persons to lead consultations on regional governance reforms. A gender-balanced High-Level Persons Group, with representatives from each Pacific sub-region, will compile findings for further consideration by Forum members.
“Effective regional governance requires strong collective political leadership, and the troika mechanism is central to ensuring the Pacific Islands Forum remains cohesive, forward-looking, and responsive to the region’s evolving needs,” said Cook Islands Foreign Secretary Tepaeru Herrmann.
The Troika leaders reaffirmed their commitment to supporting New Caledonia’s self-determination process and to strengthening Pacific unity through collaborative regional action.
