Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. ‘Aisake Valu Eke, announced a National Development Summit scheduled for 18-21 March at the new Tonga High School Stadium in Nuku’alofa.
The 4-day summit aims to engage the public in discussions on important issues such as economic growth, social development, education, infrastructure, and technological advancement.
“We invite everyone to participate in shaping our nation’s future,” said Dr. Eke during a press conference on Friday. “This summit will allow us to reflect on the challenges we’ve faced, the lessons we’ve learned, and the path forward.”
A key focus of the summit will be reviewing the Tonga Strategic Development Framework (TSDF) 2015-2025, which has guided national progress over the past decade.
Insights from this review will inform the development of the next ten-year plan and assist in formulating the government’s budget for the upcoming financial year.
All members of the public are encouraged to attend and contribute to these discussions.
