Prime Minister Dr. ‘Aisake Eke launched Tonga’s upgraded Online Business Registry on Friday, marking a major step toward digital transformation in business registration.
The new platform managed by the Ministry of Trade and Economic Development (MTED) offers a fully paperless system, available since December 2024, allowing businesses to complete all filings, payments, and registrations online. It also features a user-friendly interface and facilitates foreign investment registration.
“This is a milestone in improving ease of doing business in Tonga. Entrepreneurs and investors can now access services with greater efficiency and transparency,” Dr. Eke said at the launch event.
The upgrade was made possible with support from the Pacific Private Sector Development Initiative, the Asian Development Bank, Australia in Tonga, the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the New Zealand Companies Office, and Paradigm Applications.

Officials say the initiative will modernize business operations in the country, removing bureaucratic hurdles and boosting economic activity.
The government hopes that the platform’s accessibility will encourage more local and foreign investments, driving long-term economic growth.
