A collection of 23 luxury villas is set to be built on the Polata’ane Royal Estate in Nuku’alofa, offering high-end accommodations for Very Very Important People (VVIPs) announced by the Tonga Development Bank (TDB) last week.
Part of the “Langa Fonua” Project, reportedly initiated by their Majesties, the villas will be a key feature of the new development on Vuna Road, replacing the former British Consular House site.

The TDB emphasized the importance of this project in addressing the country’s accommodation shortages, particularly following the devastation caused by the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai volcanic eruption and tsunami in 2022.
The villas will provide a total of 58 rooms, with seventeen 2-bedroom villas and six 4-bedroom villas designed for maximum comfort. Each unit will be built to high standards, catering to top-tier guests attending international events and royal engagements.

A swimming pool and bar will complement the residential facilities, enhancing the luxurious atmosphere of the estate.
Construction is expected to be completed by June, just in time for King Tupou VI’s birthday on July 12.
