Police have arrested multiple suspects in a major drug crackdown across Tongatapu.
A series of raids led by the Drug Squad resulted in several arrests, large cannabis seizures, and the discovery of drug-related cash and paraphernalia.
The operation began on March 27 with a raid in Tatakamotonga, where officers arrested a 49-year-old man from Holonga and a 45-year-old woman. Police seized 41 cannabis packs, loose leaves, 380 empty bags, and a mobile phone.
Later that day, a second search in Holonga led to the arrest of two males aged 17 and 21. Officers confiscated more cannabis, bongs, and packaging equipment.
On March 29, the squad raided a residence in Vaini, detaining two suspects aged 40 and 45. Items seized included cannabis, test tubes, cash, and a mobile phone.
On April 2, a final operation in Hihifo saw the arrest of a 34-year-old man. Police found cannabis and over $5,000 paʻanga.
“All suspects are currently in custody. Investigations are ongoing,” police confirmed.
“These operations reflect the ongoing commitment of Tonga Police to combat the spread of illicit drugs and safeguard communities across the Kingdom.”
