Residents across Tongatapu are facing widespread power outages as strong winds topple trees and damage power lines.
Tonga Power Limited (TPL) reported that areas including Pea, Tokomololo, Lomaiviti, and several others are currently without electricity.
TPL teams are working to restore service, estimating repairs will take several hours today.
The outages were caused by fallen trees impacting high-voltage lines, with further interruptions possible if severe weather persists. TPL has advised residents to charge essential devices and unplug sensitive electronics to prevent power surges.
“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your cooperation as we work to resolve the issue as quickly as possible,” TPL said in a statement.
Residents can contact TPL’s Customer Service line at 0800 123 for updates and further information.
