Prince William, the 42-year-old Prince of Wales, is reportedly stepping into a more prominent role within the monarchy as King Charles undergoes cancer treatment, according to insiders.
William is said to be asserting influence over key decisions shaping the royal family’s future, including distancing the Firm from estranged relatives Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Prince Andrew. A palace insider told InTouch, “It’s no secret that anyone who pushes back against him will be swiftly shown the door.”
The king, 76, is reportedly granting William increased authority, acknowledging the possibility of a sooner-than-expected transition of power. “By all accounts, [Charles] is acknowledging that his time to rule will be sooner, rather than later,” the source added.
Improving the monarchy’s public image and cutting unnecessary spending are said to be William’s priorities. This includes monitoring royal expenses and reducing private flights to align with his environmental commitments. “The days of wasteful spending and overconsumption are ending now that William is at the helm,” the insider noted.
William and Kate Middleton, who announced her cancer recovery in September, have gradually resumed public duties. Plans for William’s eventual ascension are reportedly underway, following private discussions between the king and Middleton.
Kensington Palace has not commented on the developments.
