A pro-life, pro-family group, Citizen Go, faced controversy in Paris when their bus displaying the message “STOP ATTACKS ON CHRISTIANS” led to the arrest of six team members. The arrests occurred amid heightened tensions during the Paris Summer Olympics, where Christian symbols and messages were reportedly mocked.
Citizen Go shared on X that their members were detained overnight after their bus, bearing the anti-mockery message, was stopped by authorities. The group criticised the French legal response, stating that spreading their message was within legal bounds and describing the actions of the prosecutor as an overreach.
The controversy intensified with the Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony, which included a provocative reenactment of The Last Supper featuring drag queens, prompting widespread criticism. Citizen Go’s spokesperson argued that while Christian imagery was subject to mockery, their message of support for Christians faced undue suppression.
Following their release, French authorities demanded the removal of the bus’s messaging. When Citizen Go’s lawyer resisted, the group was expelled from Paris and escorted out by police, leading them to condemn the incident as “anti-Christian political and ideological persecution.”
